First-time trip to Pasig Rainforest Park

Wishing Well at the Flower Fields
Again, we made this trip on a whim of mine. So my mother, my niece and I went to check out the Pasig Rainforest Park, also known as the Rave of Pasig. Getting there was easy, at least in our part.

The location of the park (thanks to Google Maps!)
Since we live in Binangonan, Rizal, the easiest and the only way we know to get there is commuting via Manggahan Floodway on an FX (specifically GT Express bound for Crossing). We only had to ask the driver to take us to Stella Maris so that we could cross the Legazpi (or Javier) Bridge which then would lead us to the Rainforest Park in Pasig's Maybunga district. It's beside the Pasig Science High School.

Entrance is free, but every attractions and facilities of the park has a fee, except for the playground which has absolutely no charge. However, the fee is incredibly cheap: for instance, P20 per head for the train ride. But if you're a resident of Pasig, you will be granted with much cheaper fees.

Actually, my niece is happy riding in the train.

See! She's really happy!
We only got to check out just a few of the attractions, including the Train Station, the Flower Fields and the Butterfly Park (which is a relative disappointment -- I expected to see some monarch butterflies). We would have wanted to try the Boating Lagoon, but that particular area was reserved for the christening reception and party.

But truly, we saw many, many things to see and do at the Pasig Rainforest. Since the place also serves as a resort, there are a lot of pools there. But since we only checked out the place and not really to swim (at least for the time being), we didn't bring our swimming clothes. My niece was really raring to go swimming! However, I've heard a lot of bad online rap about the Rainforest's swimming pools, which say that they are dirty.

The Pasig Rainforest Park also boasts a zoo, basketball and tennis courts (although they are a bit run-down), and ziplines (I will definitely try that when we get back there again), as well as some giant chess boards with movable pieces. It also has an amphitheater, camping grounds (that we failed to check) as well as some fountains. Of course, as it's an eco-park, there are many trees and foliage that dot every nook and cranny of the place.

My order: banana split in wafer cone
For someone like me who loves to eat, the best thing about Pasig Rainforest is that there are a lot of food booths. Unlike in Club Manila East, the prices of the food items offered at Pasig Rainforest are relatively cheaper. We ate siomai (dumplings) with rice at a Hen Lin food stand, as well ice cream at another booth which offered a mighty array of choices. I ordered a banana split in big wafer cone.

Well, at the time we went there, it was a Sunday -- and an Easter Sunday at that. Kaya ang dami-dami-daming tao! Sobra... lalo na sa me pool area. I hope to visit the Pasig Rainforest Park again after summer is over, so that I could see the true charm of the place.

The park is also good for those who do serious photo-shoots. I only forgot to bring my digital camera, so all of the pictures here are taken by my smartphone cam.

For lovers, if you want to have a special date but are short on budget, the Pasig Rainforest is an excellent option. This park doesn't scrimp on sights and amenities in a price that is within your pocket's worth.
